The year 2009 has been an year of action for Sahodari. From advocacy on rights to action on economic empowerment, we have been very activein 2009. 2009 has been a proud and a perfect year to lead the community towards a dignified way of living. But we are only half way in our path.

APRIL 09
Sahodari’s event ‘Transwomen, the Respectables (The hunt for dignity) – a big success.
In the minds of the public, there are myths and doubts on Transgender women. The recent news in Tamilnadu about transgenders ‘compelling a boy and making him a woman’ could damage the social acceptance of transgenders in the mainstream society. LGBT Pride month Celebrations
For the first time in Chennai, Sahodari along with Sangama, Sahodaran, Sakthi Center, SAATHI and Center for Counseling celebrated the LGBT Pride month in Chennai. Regional Consultation Meeting of Trans activists
Transgender Rights Association of Chennai and Sahodari Foundation organised a regional consultation meeting with the aid of UNDP to identify the needs of the transgender community of Tamilnadu and Kerala.
